I got an error on my sitemap:

We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please
ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the
location you provided and then resubmit. HTTP Error:

Could this be because ...
- we use asp (a shame at least). Someone felt almost like suspecting
it.
- the sitemap loads quite slow sometimes. I read it might be a problem
with a router? It can be downloaded fully with a browser or wget.
- Xml-file is quite big (about 4M). Would it help to split it?
Is is possible to get error details like written in this post:
