While on a trip to SE Asia, as my Nepal trip was postponed again for the 3rd time, I decided to made a quick croc hunting expedition to Laos - visiting Vientiane & Savannakhet, to see some families and catch-up with few friends... attending the Thatluang festival, the ITec Exibitiion - and looking for DKJ (but he is no where to be found).
I took lots of foto in Vientiane, hoping to catch DKJ taking foto but he is no where... I even asked some of the dozen of photographers at Thatluang who would ofdfer for a quick souvenir shot for fre 1000's kip...and they all said that they were DKJ!!
My Nepal trekking was postponed again due to last minute crashed with my daughter who would do the trek with me. She has to stay back to finish few minor thing at her University...so to finish her course. As so, she is as at the 4th November 2009, to become the 1st Hmong girl (and the 3rd Hmong medical doctors) to graduate from an OZ University with a degree in Medicine, a degree in Surgery and a degree in Medical Science (to become a medical doctor). So, she is NOW officially to be known as Dr Selena Nkauj Hli Saykao!

Thanks... Casalao. As an old wise gentleman used to tell me, you are a real achiever if you can at least replicate yourself in your life time - so at least I have done that!\
Life goes on... but as you have said, each day will be different and it is a matter of how we use the time that is given to us: use it, waste it or just watch it to goes by. Life is but memory and those memory cost time, money and guts. Also as before we passed on, we have to at least cause some ripple in the water or make some lasting effect in this world that we live in to benefit others... hence, we need to have a set collection of convictions that will guide us to live each moment, not only for the good memory for ourselves but for the betterment of others as well at the same time. So... Casalao, you may have noted that there have been changes in my life, that would be an understatement... there has been tiny changed, and they will be more changes as life goes on...

DKJ et. al.,
Thank you, every one, for your kind word about my daughter graduation. It is indeed another milestone for the second Laonork generation to be able to move on. She was extreme happy and relief that after 6 long years of hard study, the fruit is finally ripened to be enjoy. This girl is very caring as a doctor, she has been working & studying at the Polynesia islands, in India and Nepal and has made 2 trips to the Philippine as part of the Rainbow Plastic Surgery visit to offer free surgery to the poor people in that country. She has tour Europe, America but, fluent in French but not Lao, she missed her placement in Laos as she could not get accommodation and placement in Luangprabang for her elective study.... may be one day she will be there.
As for my trip, it was an enjoyable trip indeed with no official engagement, only visiting few people like Achan Vichit at Thaluang (more photo to come..), HE Khenthong and catch up with few friends( Dr Bounkhuang and Dr Khamphad (the husband of Pany): http://lh5.ggpht.com/_lOGnlLaEWf4/SvFjtdwaKYI/AAAAAAAAA0A/2Q8KyEeCt2M...

It is not that the Hmong are good in study.. but it is only because, they know how hard and how fortunate for each one of them to be able to study where they are... so by working hard, they seem to bypass their laolum friends who are equally capable but probably having an easier life, so less motivation to study.
Anyway, thanks for all your kind words about my daughter achievement.

Yeah... Than Leuam Insixiengmay, age over 90+ years old, appears to me to be in good health, body & mind... and in high spirit. I was quite surprise as well because, there are not many people of his generation who are still in that good health and still with us. Unfortunately, that I did not have enough time with him... but with our short visit, i did take few photos and video-record our visit and conversation with him. When I was in France in May 2009, I also met with Pagna Houphan Sayasith (who married to the Insisiengmay and he has completed the Insisiengmay family tree - for your Info) and he is as robust as any one at 82 years of age.

Dr. Pao,
Congratulation to the success of your daughter. Your success is part of ours and the Lao overseas as well.
congratulation to your daughter for her success. wish her luck in life and career. it's hard for me to believe that Hmong "bypass" Laolum in education, either in Oz or here in the usa, since i know lots of Laolum kids have the same success as your daughter as far as education is concerned, only most of them like to stay in low-key and live their life quietly and peacefully as in the "bor-pengyung" mentality in every aspect of life. i think it depends on individual and family, it's hard to say one ethnic is better than the other.
again congratulation to you and your family to have a wonderful Hmong Lao Aussi daughter.
> It is not that the Hmong are good in study.. but it is only because, > they know how hard and how fortunate for each one of them to be able > to study where they are... so by working hard, they seem to bypass > their laolum friends who are equally capable but probably having an > easier life, so less motivation to study.

Congratulation to your daughter's success and to the Thao Saykao's families, she is a remarkable lady that can set her feet onto her dad foot steps. Wishing her well!
Thanks for sharing those pictures, and I whole heartedly agree with Yingb. Nowadays, we don't take side no more, such that we are trying to enjoy our own life--because life is too short to waste.
Thanks for all your congratulation remark on the occasion of my daughter graduation. I will pass on all ypur kind words to her.
Thanks again.

Dr. Pao, maybe you can put to rest once and for all (after your personal meeting with the new and official Lao PDR spokesman) what all the hoopla is all about with the government's on-going propaganda coming out of DKJ and Yong. Afterall, Mr. Khenthong Nouanthasinh is your best friend when he was the Ambassador to Australia.
Dr. Pao, you are full of contradictions. Sadly, in the same ways of Yong Chanthalangsy! Just re-read your contradictory statement!
You said, "As for my trip, it was an enjoyable trip indeed with no official engagement, only visiting few people like Achan Vichit at Thaluang (more photo to come..), HE Khenthong and catch up with few friends (Dr Bounkhuang and Dr Khamphad (the husband of Pany)"
Khenthong may be your friend, but he is also the official national spokesperson of the one-party Hammer and Sickle government run by Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
Dr Khamphad may be your friend, but he is also the husband of the Pany Yathotou, a Politburo Member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the neucleus of that country's one party rule.
It is no wonder extremists on both sides (Yong on the one hand and his critics on the other), have no respect for you. You're a living contradiction unto yourself.
